Memorial Day 2011

Nineteen years ago, today, my Southern man and I were married in a Trussville, AL Baptist church.  It’s amazing, isn’t it, how 19 years ago can seem so jam-packed with stuff that it seems like forever ago, yet, at the same time, seems like just yesterday…until we look in the mirror and see someone reminiscent of our parents looking back at us…and hear two teenagers in the background.  Those are ours?  When did that happen?  How did I get here?  It’s also rather humorous how our paths brought us to this place.  So many plans we made, yet God’s plan always trumps ours.  Go figure.  But, I thank God for the plans He’s made for my life and that includes my Southern man and our children, of course.  Wouldn’t trade them for a thing.

Now to more serious business on this day, May 30, the traditional observance of Memorial Day.  We thank all those who sacrificed their lives so we could live in a beautiful country that still rings with the bells of freedom.  God bless all those families who have lost loved ones in the wars that have been fought, God bless, protect and comfort those who are serving now and their families that they leave miles and hours away, and God bless the USA.
