Today, much to the delight of many females who have scruffy males in their lives, is the last day of Movember. The Movember movement originated in Australia (who doesn’t like a scruffy Australian with that Down Under accent!) and raises money for men’s health issues, prostate cancer, in particular. You can click on the pic below and go to the official US Movember website. It’s a great cause that has grown as fast as…as…my Southern Man’s facial hair. Unfortunately, he didn’t participate; job reasons, I guess. I have to say, I sure do love the look (not necessarily the feel) of a goatee on a man…well, some men.
Scruffiness definitely isn’t always desirable. Take my brother-in-law, poor guy. He had to give up his Movember participation because his young daughter refused to come near him and his wife, my sister, wasn’t much better, apparently. So, out came the razor and off went the goatee.
I have looked, but didn’t see exactly why they chose the month of November for this noble cause, other than being able to use the word “move” as in get off your butts and get involved. Personally, I think they should have chosen the month of January. Think about it…
…”Man”-uary. I just think that makes more sense, don’t you? 🙂
