Normally, I don’t post too much specifically about religion or politics (especially politics!), probably because I am passionate and very opinionated about my beliefs and want to keep my blog fairly lighthearted, but I came across this photo and story from a Facebook friend and felt compelled to write about it, with his permission, which he gladly gave. Whew! I think that might have been a run-on sentence, but I’m not being graded…am I? Sure hope not! Anyways…..
Do you know what a “God wink” is? Well, here is the definition according to the FAQ page of the “When God Winks” website:
WHAT’S A GODWINK?
A godwink is what some people would call a coincidence, an answered prayer, or simply an experience where you’d say, “Wow, what are the odds of that!”
What do godwinks mean? Think about when you were a kid and someone you loved gave you a little wink across the dining room table…Mom or Dad or Grandma. You didn’t say “What do you mean by that?” You knew. It meant: “Hey kid, I’m thinking about you right now.” That’s what a godwink is too: a message of reassurance from above, directly to you, out of six billion people on the planet, saying “Hey kid…I’m thinking of you! Keep the faith! You’re never alone.”

If you click on the picture below, it should open the link to the story from CBS news about Wreaths Across America. Arlington National Cemetery has several hundred thousand grave markers and Wreaths Across America, with the help of thousands of volunteers, placed wreaths on over 100 thousand grave markers of our fallen heroes. Look at the picture again, and check out the grave marker in the lower left; you will see the name Adam Leigh Cann. This is our friend’s beloved brother, a Marine killed in action in Iraq. Out of all the hundreds of thousands of grave markers, what are the odds that his would be right there, in front, for all his loved ones and the world to see?
I don’t believe in coincidences…that, my friends, is definitely a God wink: a small, loving sign from our Almighty Creator to give comfort and hope to the family and friends of this fallen hero in this Christmas season.
