The Incredibles…Weather Man?

This afternoon, while my Southern Man took our son back to college, our daughter watched The Incredibles. Every time I see a particular character in that movie, I think of this guy:

That was his last broadcast on that station. Here is the long version of the tribute to him:

A few years later and this New Hampshire cult icon, as he has been called, was back on television doing his “Weather with Al” segment on WBIN-TV. Now tell me, don’t you think Mr. Kaprielian

looks a bit like a jollier version of Gilbert Huph?

Gilbert Huph

Gilbert Huph, Bob Parr’s (a.k.a. Mr. Incredible) boss at Insuricare, was voiced by the actor Wallace Shawn. You will remember him from The Princess Bride (one of my favorite movies) as Vizzini, a.k.a. “Mr. Inconceivable”:

Anyways, I hope you can see why I can’t stop associating Gilbert Huph with Al Kaprielian every time that movie comes on! Mr. Kaprielian, however, is a much nicer, more lovable guy–plus, he’s Armenian. πŸ˜‰ Some people may think he’s a little nutty, but he’s sure to put a smile on your face with his words, accent and/or antics! And on that note, “Good EEEEEEEEEVE-ning” to you!

I am the General Manager of WBIN-TV. Google alerts picked up your blog. This is a riot…great catch on your part. I forwarded your link to Al so he can see it. I wasn’t sure if you’ve seen Al’s current forecasts. They are on our facebook page and updated each day. He is as animated as ever!
Thanks for being an Al fan and for giving us a good laugh this AM.

Thank you for stopping by and passing this on to Mr. Kaprielian. Even though I’m down here in Alabama, I still tune in to the weather report up there–if for nothing more than to hear the New England accent–and am a fan of your page.

Glad you enjoyed the post. Have a great week! πŸ™‚
